Activities at Camp

Each day at Cedar Sage is a day full of activities that engage the mind, heart and will.  From Mass in the morning to Art of Living sessions in the afternoon with sports, recreation, cheers, and the arts in between, campers are sure to return home with smiles on their faces, a greater love for God engraved on their heart, strong friendships and lasting memories.​​

​SPORTS & RECREATION

 

The sports program encourages the qualities of generosity, perseverance, and sportsmanship.  

 

Activities include: high and low ropes courses, canoeing, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, gaga ball, games and put-put golf.​​

​FINE ARTS

​

The fine arts program is designed to develop talents, foster creativity, and increase self-confidence, industriousness, patience, and attention to detail. 

Class:  Chemistry in Art

Teacher:  Mrs. Cynthia Simmons

Description:  Each day the girls will work on a different project to create beautiful art using chemistry.  Projects will include jewelry making, sun paper art, etc.

Class: Musical Theatre

Teacher: Mrs. Nancy Bartke

Description: Girls learn a fun song from a Broadway musical, including basic dance moves. No prior experience required! At the end of the week they perform it as part of the Mom's Afternoon presentation.

 

Class: Drama

Teacher: Mrs. Monica Spence

Description: Each class will begin with improv games, then the girls will hone dramatic skills such as storytelling through playacting, and will also memorize excerpts from Shakespeare for Friday's performance. 

 

Class Art

Teacher: Mrs. Mary Simmons

Description:  Students will learn technique of painting on canvas and produce a piece of artwork worthy of hanging above the mantle.

THE ART OF LIVING

​

Art of Living classes equip girls with skills they need to take care of people with confidence and artistry.  They provide a philosophical framework for understanding service and the basic needs of the human person and illustrate how the skills they acquire will help them to live rich and reflective lives. 

​​

Sessions include presentations from guest speakers, skill building practices, training demonstrations, and mentoring.​​

​​

Topics may include:

​

  • The Dignity of the Human Person

  • What is Service?

  • What Makes a Family Work and Why?

  • Home and the Strength of Young Women

  • Serving with Freedom and Joy

  • Welcoming Others: From Home to the World

  • Discovering Why and How All Work is Service​​​

​​Theory and Practice

​

There are short presentations placing culinary art, home health, fashion and interior design in a cultural and philosophical perspective, followed by hands-on, fun skill building sessions. 

Sessions may include:

  • Baking and Pastry

  • Entertaining at Home

  • Design and Color Theory

  • Culture

  • Fashion and Beauty

  • Table Decor and Dining Room Management

  • Taking Care of the Sick in the Home

  • Sewing

  • Jewelry

  • Organization

  • Social Skills and Friendship Building

  • Healthy Habits

  • Good Use of Time

MENTORING

​

Discussions during the session are designed to help the girls develop an eye for the needs of others, to apply the skills they are learning to their own unique circumstances, and to grow in their confidence and enthusiasm for living a life of service.
